Our pupils very much enjoyed their day on the climbing wall and we would
thoroughly recommend this to any organization and would be happy to speak
to anyone who wanted any verbal feedback from someone who had used the
Facility.
We first saw Summit Climbing Wall displayed at the Countryside Festival at
Glamis Castle in September 2005, and thought immediately it was a fresh new
activity, which would appeal to our employees to have a go at. Both the Chairman
and his 7-year-old son had a go at climbing the wall and loved it!
Following this, we spoke to Paul and Mark from Summit on the telephone and put
forward a provisional idea of what we were looking for in terms of activity
for our staff, and this was fine tuned through email, and the first booking
was made. It couldn’t have been easier!
On 16th December Summit arrived at our premises in Brechin and set up quickly
outside in the yard. We had originally hoped that the wall would fit in the
warehouse, but found it worked much better outside.
It was cold and there was snow on the ground but 22 of our staff all had a go
and found it excellent fun and challenging. We had both individual and team
races, some of which were done blindfolded, and the fastest climb was recorded
at 54 seconds to get to the top with a blindfold on. One of the managers was
heard to say that it made a refreshing change to ‘climb’ the wall
rather than be ‘driven up it’ by the staff!
This activity was then so successful that it was repeated for our staff who
live in the Central belt.
On 24th February 2006 the wall arrived at our depot in Livingston, where 7 teams
of 4 people all had an opportunity to learn how to climb. It was a bleak day,
with light showers but this just made the wall more interesting to climb! Our
teams all had a couple of goes, and amazingly there was a tie with two teams
recording the fastest climb. There then followed a ‘climb-off’ blindfolded
and the winner recorded an amazing time of 44 seconds.
We are always looking for new ideas to let our employees have a fun activity
each year. This ticked all the boxes in terms of interest, challenge, healthy
competitiveness, teamwork and individual competence and was great fun. It was
easy to organise, nothing was too much trouble for Summit and they greatly assisted
us in designing a bespoke activity to fit in with our requirements for the day.
They brought the activity to us, and proved excellent value for money as well
as raising staff morale in a time when bad weather and short working days are
common. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.
Thought I'd reply and give you some feedback material from my viewpoint after
we worked together in East Kilbride with Rolls-Royce.
Specifically; I thought that you and Paul came across as very professional in
your approach to both myself and the client we were working with.
You took the time and attitude to find out what Outward Bound Professional is
and does in terms of style and practise. You were obviously keen to match our
requirements in terms of experiential learning, although it can be difficult
to do on a one-day activity programme.
I appreciated your commitment to be in the right place at the right time and
after our initial conversations before the programme and our subsequent meeting
I felt very confident in your abilities and that is invaluable to someone like
me who relies on that level of 'promise' to ensure a smooth event.
Generally; I would recommend you to anyone who was looking for a committed and
professional team to deliver the service you provide, and the great attitude
that you both have, its always a pleasure to work with good people.
I hope that your business empire grows to enormous proportion Mark, and hope
to work with you and Paul again if the chance ever arose.
The Summit Climbing Wall was a great success at the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival and my only comment would be remember to put us in the diary for next year
